The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides burial benefits to honor the service of eligible veterans. These benefits may include:
Burial in a national cemetery with no cost for the gravesite, opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, a government headstone or marker, a burial flag, and a Presidential Memorial Certificate.
Burial allowances to help cover burial and funeral costs for eligible veterans.
A government headstone or marker for an unmarked grave in a private cemetery.
A burial flag to drape the casket or accompany the urn.
A Presidential Memorial Certificate signed by the current President.
